Tommi Wilder is a 2022 graduate of the Wake County Public School System Saint Mary’s School where she earned a 4.313 grade point average. In addition to being a star student academically, Ms. Wilder was also very involved in the total school community where she served as the Student Body President and as president of the Black Student Union. While at Saint Mary’s she participated in four sports and was involved in five other school based organizations.
Tommi described her commitment to community service as being as ordinary as waking in the morning and going to class each day. Spending Saturday mornings, at an early age, devoted to service projects shaped her passion for causes that all had the potential to improve the human condition. She said during her formative years she wholeheartedly believed in the quote attributed to Shirley Chisholm, “Service is the rent we pay for the privilege of being on this earth.” Even today she has not wavered in her commitment to ending sexual assaults and other gender based violence, working with special needs students, maintaining a clean and safe community through beautification efforts, and serving as a mentor to younger girls.
Although her career focus has shifted slightly over the last two (2) years, she remains committed to a career in healthcare. Her current goals are to major in health science or nursing, with a desire to attend medical school or to pursue an advanced degree towards a career as a Nurse Practitioner.
